Eric Suminski Recognized at State |
(4/4/05) |
At the 2005 State DECA Competition, Eric Suminski (class of 2001) was presented the Alumni Excellence Award given to a Wisconsin DECA alum who has contributed significantly to DECA.
Since his graduation from Brown Deer High School, Eric's passion to continue to assist Wisconsin and Brown Deer DECA has never waned. While Eric has frequently served as a judge at both the District and State levels, his biggest contribution is the creation, design, and maintenance of the Brown Deer DECA website. Started as a class project his senior year, Eric has been passionate in his constant desire to upgrade and improve the site. While he has always made it better, ha has also kept it current -- a chore many larger education-based websites fail to do. Eric, thanks for making browndeerdeca.org one of the top high school DECA websites in the state!

2005 BD DECA Christmas Drive |
(1/14/05) |
Again this year, Brown Deer DECA adopted four needy families for Christmas. Working with the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, DECA chapter president Kelli DeBarge coordinated the drive, which ran from November 22 through December 16. By the conclusion of the drive, the four marketing classes had contributed over $560, collected over 700 non-perishable food items, provided each family with a ham, Christmas tree, lights, and holiday decorations. Money collected was used to purchase dozens of presents that were all gift-wrapped prior to delivery. On Saturday, December 18th, 12 DECA members, three parents, and two staff members made the deliveries and had the heart-warming exprience to actually meet the recipients. In December 2004, it truly was "A Wonderful Life."
