DECA, a national association of marketing education students, provides members with educational and leadership development activities to merge with the classroom instructional program. DECA is not extracurricular; it is an integral part of the marketing classroom curriculum. DECA chapters attract students who are interested in preparing for entrepreneurial, marketing, or management careers.

Brown Deer DECA members are involved in service projects, attend leadership workshops, and participate in competency-based events at the district, state, and national levels. Over the years, the many accomplishments of chapter members have been a source of pride for both the high school and business community. Jim Sadowski was the advisor when Brown Deer DECA received its charter as a Wisconsin chapter in 1976, and he remained the advisor until his retirement in June 2006.
